Security at Sanebox
Security at SaneBox is job one. By design, we limit the information that is held on our servers.  Your email never resides on our servers, except for the moment that we send your Sane RemindMe email back to you (and even then we try to measure in seconds the time that any one email is on our disks). Also by design, SaneBox acts as a client so that if our service should be down for a minute or two...

Clear Inbox, Clear Mind
You walk into work, sit down at your desk, log into your email and there it is. A flooded inbox of new assignments, spam, left over emails from last week, more spam (how did they get my email address!), and the memo that the third floor copier is jammed again. Your already serious case of the Mondays just got worse. If you have a physical or emotional reaction to this email overload, you’re not...

SaneBox RemindMe – Tracking Who Didn’t Reply &...
We just fielded a new feature we call Sane RemindMe. It solves two big problems at one shot. scheduling email processing without a folder in a more granular way keeping track of emails that haven’t received a reply yet Like all SaneBox related things it is easy to use. When sending an email… add a special SaneBox address as a recipient in the TO: or CC: or BCC: field. This special SaneBox...

What do you do with the Email Once you’ve Read and...
(this was asked by a user today and it seemed like a topic screaming out for a blog post) First, that’s a good question. I’m a big fan of INBOX zero so I do strongly suggest moving your processed INBOX email out of that folder.  See my comment below about were to put it. Having said that, I don’t think you need to be compelled to clean out your unimportant folders. SaneLater zero just doesn’t have...

SaneBox Face Lift Continues
To all our beloved SaneBox users, please log in and check out our new settings page . (and for those non-SaneBox lunatics out there… run and sign up for SaneBox right now… jeez) I thought fielding this new page presented an opportunity to talk about what we hope to accomplish with our new face lift.  Probably all of this is common sense to most of you… But, for me this was a revelation that...

Sane News
Notice 2 new buttons in your SaneBox email digest!! Flag &Train these emails… takes you to a web page to conveniently do that. You can also archive from that web page! Archive All… yeah you can just archive them all.  If you don’t have an archive folder, we will create SaneArchive for you and put them there. We also call this the Bijan-Button (his idea). If you see something you want to...

Soon You Won’t Have to Visit Your SaneLater Folder
We here at SaneBox think you should spend as little time as possible on your email. You have better things to do with your time! So we take the unimportant stuff out of your INBOX so it won’t distract you. And we send you an email digest of the unimportant stuff so you can quickly search for nuggets of gold. Now you can move those nuggets to your INBOX from the digest!!! If you are like me...

What Does Your SaneBox Ranking Mean?
Your weekly activity report now declares your “ranking” amongst the other SaneBox users. What does this number mean? The idea behind the ranking is to give each SaneBox user points for good email behavior and take away points for bad behavior.  Your overall count reflects this algorithm.  And your particular ranking is meant to nudge users to develop better email habits. The ultimate SaneBox...

Announcing… User Defined Sane Folders
Hi Guys, We have always tried to make SaneBox as GTD-like as possible. GTD means do what is most important right now. Keep your focus and be productive. SaneBox does this by creating an INBOX with exactly what you need to deal with NOW. But, GTD also points out that there are projects that need to get done later that require little pieces of work as you go along.  Now SaneBox addresses this too. ...

Status of SaneBox
In my on-going attempt to live my startup life out loud, here is the status of SaneBox.com SaneBox was started on 2/20/2010. It automatically files unimportant emails into a @SaneLater folder so your Inbox is free of distractions. It does this with global rules and a statistical analysis of your email history and your relationships with other social networks.  Training is as easy as moving an...

Get Your Digest Whenever You Want
The biggest challenge for those using SaneBox is “letting go” of the unimportant stuff and concentrating on their INBOX. To help with this, we send an “unread, unimportant email digest” which allows everyone to quickly scan the cruft to make sure there isn’t a nugget of gold there. Now you can have this digest whenever you want it! go to http://sanebox.com/settings and click on “Email...

Using your “Digest of Unread Unimportant Emails”
1. This is where you click to change the number of times you get the digest. 2. This is a link to a webpage to help you triage **all** your unimportant email at once. 3. If I want this bi-monthly payroll approval reminder to go in my INBOX, I would click here. By default, all SaneBox users get a “Digest of unread unimportant emails” each afternoon.  This digest is a summary of all the emails...

SaneArchive
Today we fielded a new optional folder called SaneArchive. This option keeps the total count of Sane folder emails to a maximum of 5000.  The 5001st oldest email will automatically be filed into the SaneArchive folder. We’ve discovered that as we get better and better at separating the unimportant email into SaneLater, our users spend less and less time processing (filing, deleting) those emails. ...

Why Some People Need an Email Intervention
I have an old friend who has always had trouble keeping up with his email.  Let’s call him FooBar. FooBar get’s a **lot** of email. And it was his email woes, in addition to that of other friends, that caused me to create http://sanebox.com. No I’m not going to mention FooBar by name.  He is a good guy with this one little foible: he thinks every single email might be crucial to his life. To...

SaneBox Relationship Chart
This chart shows where I am in relationship to the current world of SaneBox. The yellow line is the total emails received by each user this week.  The green line is the total important emails received by each user this week. I am about 65% of the way up the base of the true power user email cliff. We will add to this chart in the future but for now it is meant to put your pain in perspective....

Security and Privacy at SaneBox
Everyone’s email is a mess. Your INBOX contains multi-million dollar deal memos and bulk email from retailers you visited years ago all sorted chronologically. So an offer for Viagra may come ahead of a job offer. SaneBox solves this problem. It automagically decides what emails “can wait” and moves those to a separate SaneLater folder. You are left with a clean, priority INBOX. And If you...
